Author Description
American architect and horticulturist <b>Andrew Jackson Downing</b> wrote the classic <i> <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9883919.A_Treatise_on_Landscape_Gardening" title="A Treatise on Landscape Gardening" rel="nofollow noopener">A Treatise on Landscape Gardening</a> </i> (1841) and designed the grounds of the White House and the Capitol of the United States. <br /><br />He prominently advocated the Gothic revival and edited <i>The Horticulturist</i> magazine from 1846 to 1852.
