Author Description

I wrote this memoir because I felt that my story would resonate both with adolescents and families living abroad and with young women who are struggling with their identity and their relationships. What I have found is that this memoir has become a Book Club book; many adult readers enjoy it because it allows them to reflect on their own coming of age and consider their children's present experiences. This is my first book. I am currently working on a second travel memoir titled "Good Morning Charlie" about the two years my husband I spent living in London. In addition to writing, I am currently a full-time tutor for high school and college students helping with writing skills, reading comprehension, standardized test prep, and college selection. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a BA in English and a concentration in writing. I first worked as a promotional and technical writer and then stayed home with my four children for many years before returning to work as a high school English teacher. While I have worked in various English-related fields, I consider myself a creative writer first, and I hope readers will enjoy this book.
